The iPhone is more than just a phone with a good camera. The device synchronizes with various equipment and endlessly expands your capabilities. One such extension is connecting your iPhone to your TV. This connection provides several advantages. Firstly, it is viewing photos and videos of such quality that only the iPhone can do, on a big screen. And what could be more pleasant than to relive the memories from your vacation by walking along the embankment? Or immerse yourself in your child’s first party? And secondly, it is an opportunity to listen to music, which will be especially interesting for those who have good acoustics.

In this article you will learn about several ways to connect your phone to your TV.

What TV can be connected to?

The TV must have a Smart box and certain options. If the device is smart, it probably has AirPlay or the more modern version of AirPlay 2 inside for quick and easy connection. If you bought your TV a long time ago (before 2011), the likelihood that this option is present is low. And if you don’t know about it and haven’t used it yet, then you can look it up by delving into the different settings of your TV model. But don’t rush to leave if you don’t find this option; in the article we’ll tell you about other ways to connect to a TV from your iPhone: via cable and Bluetooth.

Method 1. How to mirror iPhone screen to TV with AirPlay

So, when connecting your smartphone to a smart TV that supports AirPlay, you should have one Wi – Fi network. In this case, you can duplicate your smartphone screen onto your TV. To do this, swipe down from the top right corner (this will open Control Center) and click the screen repeat button from iPhone to TV (two intersecting rectangles). You will see a list of devices that support this option. Select a device, then you will need to enter a code that will appear on the TV. That’s all – the TV and smartphone are synchronized.

By the way, you won’t have to enter the code again in the future. The devices will remember their pair.

Method 2. How to stream content from iPhone to TV via Apple set-top box TV and more

First, check again that your Apple smartphone is connected to the same Wi – Fi network as the Apple set-top box TV. Next, select on your smartphone the video or photo that you want to broadcast through the TV. When playing a video, press the AirPlay button (this is a rectangle with an arrow at the bottom that points up) – and you can start watching. At the same time, AirPlay will also work with Android. TV.

Pay attention to this nuance. If you want to broadcast photos and videos from the gallery, then the gallery will not have an Airplay button. First you will need to click the “Share” button (it’s a square with an arrow at the top pointing up), and then select and click the AirPlay button. The next step is to select a device (in our case, a TV), which will be in the drop-down list on your smartphone.

Additional settings: how to connect to TV via iPhone automatically?

If you often broadcast the screen of your smartphone on a TV for various reasons or use the TV as a monitor, you can make certain settings on your smartphone so as not to constantly perform these actions.

Go to the “Settings” section, then “General”, then go to “AirPlay and Handoff”. And here at the top, go to the “Auto – AirPlay” item settings. There will be 3 options:

  • First, you can select “Never”. Then the device will be connected manually each time according to the scheme described above.
  • Secondly, you can select “Ask”, and then the smartphone will show automatic notifications that it has now found an opportunity to connect Airplay. You will need to either ignore, or reject, or establish a connection.
  • Thirdly, you can select the “Auto” mode – this is the shortest and fastest way to set up synchronization.

If you have a SMART TV, but it does not have AirPlay, then the iMediaShare or TV application can help you connect Assist. They need to be downloaded from the AppStore. Once launched, select what exactly you want to broadcast and click the broadcast icon in the top right corner. Next, select your TV in the menu, and everything should work out.

Method 3. Connect your smartphone to the TV via cable

This is exactly the method that will save all those who do not have a SMART TV, but want to connect their iPhone to the TV.

Lightning to HDMI adapter if you have iPhone 5 (5 c and 5 S), iPhone 6 (6 Plus /6 S /6 S) versions Plus), iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone 8/8 Plus, iPhone X (XS / XS Max / XR), iPhone 11 (11 Pro /11 Pro Max), iPhone SE 2020, iPhone 12 (12 Mini /12 Pro /12 Pro Max), iPhone 13 (13 Pro /13 Pro Max / Mini), iPhone 14 (14 Plus /14 Pro /14 Pro Max).

If your smartphone model is iPhone 15/15 Plus /15 Pro /15 Pro Max, you will need an HDMI to Type – C cable.

Next, in the TV settings, you need to select the port to which you connected, and you will immediately see a duplicate of the iPhone screen. Note, however, that this kind of connection may fail depending on the quality of the purchased adapter. Sometimes the TV simply does not see the smartphone via cable. If the TV only has a USB connector, then the TV will recognize your iPhone only as a storage device, the above scheme will not work.

Method 4. How to connect iPhone to TV via Bluetooth – for music lovers

Here you will need to check your TV for a Bluetooth connection option. This can be found in the documents for the TV, by viewing the model parameters on the Internet or in the settings. Please note that this method is suitable for those who want to listen to music through the TV – for example, if speakers are connected to it. Photos and videos cannot be viewed this way.

So, go to your iPhone’s settings and turn on Bluetooth. You can also enable this feature in your TV settings. In the list of devices you see, find your TV model. Accept the pairing request by entering the password you see on your TV. This is all! Launch the application with music and listen to it in excellent quality from your TV or speaker.
