- new digital processing algorithms are used;
- foam ear tips enhance passive noise isolation;
- battery life with active noise cancellation (ANC) has increased to 8 hours.
Incidentally, in transparency mode, the battery life of AirPods Pro 3 has increased to 10 hours, and with periodic charging from the case, the total battery life is 24 hours.
Active noise cancellation is twice as effective as AirPods Pro 2 and four times as effective as AirPods Pro. The Adaptive EQ smart equalizer has improved the sound quality of AirPods Pro 3. It enhances bass and expands the soundstage. And in transparency mode, ambient sounds and voices become more natural.
Overview of Apple’s New Wireless Headphones for Workouts
The new headphone model takes workout capabilities to a new level—Apple has added the smallest built-in heart rate sensor in the company’s history. It uses infrared light to monitor your heart rate right during your workout. What else is new in AirPods Pro 3:
- Smart workouts — the headphones, together with your iPhone, recognize up to 50 different workouts, autonomously count your heart rate and calories, and thus help you close your activity rings in the Fitness app.

Please note that all these features are only available when connected to an iPhone that supports the new AI model, and the primary language is set to English.
Live Translation
The Live Translation option allows you to communicate with foreigners in different languages without additional software. The system analyzes sound and uses Apple Intelligence to translate speech with a natural voice. If your conversation partner does not have AirPods that support this option, you can use your iPhone—when held horizontally, it provides a text transcription of the speech. The feature is also available on AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 (ANC).
The option is currently only available in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Japanese, Italian, Korean, and a simplified version of Chinese are planned to be added this year.
Hearing Care
The improvements in AirPods Pro 3 also extend to hearing care — developers continue to refine the first comprehensive hearing system they introduced a year ago. A special test allows you to check your hearing at home and get results based on scientific research. They will be more accurate than in AirPods Pro and AirPods Pro 2 thanks to improved noise cancellation.
The headphones can be used as a hearing aid. For example, the speech amplification feature in noisy environments turns on automatically: it makes voices clearer and mutes background noise.
