Make your life easier – use the Wallet app on iPhone. With it, you won’t need a physical wallet at all, as all your cards will be stored right on your smartphone. You can pay in stores and establishments using Apple Pay – no internet required. You can also add loyalty cards, tickets, boarding passes, and much more to the app. Here’s a guide to the features of Wallet on your iPhone.
What is Wallet on iPhone?
This app essentially replaces a physical wallet. All your cards are stored in one place in electronic form – on your iPhone. You can access them with just a few swipes. In Wallet, you can also view additional information – card transactions, bonus point balances, flight departure times, and more. If you add a store’s loyalty card, you’ll receive push notifications about promotions and personalized offers.

What can be added to Wallet on iPhone?
- Bank cards.
- Transit cards for fare payment.
- Discount, bonus, and loyalty cards.

- Keys for electronic door locks.

Note: Features depend on your country of residence. US residents have the most advantages. They can add student IDs, personal IDs, and driver’s licenses. Wallet can also track orders placed in supported apps or websites.
Important: Not all store cards can be added to this app. If a discount card is available in Wallet, there is often an announcement about it in the store. The merchant may also notify you via SMS. You can always ask a consultant directly about this.
How to add a card to Wallet?
Some banks allow adding their cards to Wallet via the banking app. Here’s how to do it through the Wallet app itself:
- Open the Wallet app on iPhone and tap the “Add” button (plus sign in the upper right corner).
- Tap “Debit or Credit Card” to add a new card.
- Tap “Continue.”
- Add your card details following the on-screen instructions.
- You’ll need to confirm the information by entering a code sent to your phone.
- Tap “Done.”
Congratulations! Your card is ready to use. To pay with it in a store or restaurant, double-press the right-side button on your iPhone and confirm your identity via Face ID/passcode. Then, bring your phone close to the terminal. Shopping online? You can also pay for your order with Apple Pay.
When you add a card to Wallet on iPhone, it will also be available on other devices with the same Apple ID: Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and even Apple Vision Pro.
If you cannot add a bank card to the Wallet app on iPhone, ensure that:
- Your bank supports Apple Pay. Check the list on Apple’s website or ask your bank.
- Your iOS version is up-to-date.
For errors like “Card Addition Failed,” “Invalid Card,” “Maximum Devices Reached for Card Activation,” contact your bank’s support. The issue likely lies with the card itself.
How to add a loyalty card to Wallet?
You can add a store or venue card to Apple Wallet in several ways:
- Follow a link received via SMS or email.
- Scan a QR code or barcode marked “Add to Wallet.”
- Fill out a form on the company’s website to get the card.
- Tap a notification about card download availability, which may come when you use Apple Pay in a Wallet-supported store.
- Add the card via a mobile app (if supported). Stores or venues may also share links on social media or through iMessage and AirDrop.
How to add a ticket or boarding pass to Apple Wallet?
Usually, when you purchase a ticket or boarding pass online, the company sends it to your email. To access the document in Wallet:
- Open the email or notification containing the ticket or pass.
- Tap “Add to Apple Wallet.”
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
If there is no “Add to Apple Wallet” button, try adding it manually:
- Open the Wallet app.
- In the “All Tickets and Boarding Passes” section, select “Load.”
- Tap “Scan Code.”
- Use your camera to scan the code on the ticket or boarding pass to load it into Wallet.
By tapping “Find Apps for Wallet” in this section, you can see a list of Wallet partner apps that allow you to check in for flights, visit cinemas, or use coupons.
If you can’t add a document to Wallet, check if the merchant supports working with the app: contact them.

To install a customer card:
- Scan the QR code and fill out the form. This code is also displayed near the cash registers in stores.
- Add the registration card to the Wallet app (a corresponding button will appear).
