If you’ve been eyeing your first iPhone purchase for a while, these 9 reasons will help you make the decision. And those who have long been in the Apple circle will surely discover something new. Read on to find out what’s in the iPhone that’s not in Android!

Features you can appreciate when switching from Android to iPhone

The iPhone has well-known features and programs that make life easier for owners. They are already preinstalled on the smartphone — no need to download or install anything. For example, the built-in iMessage app allows Apple gadget owners to exchange locations, photos, videos, audio, text messages, and much more. Not impressed? Then let’s say you can even send money using the Apple Cash option!

AirDrop — a built-in file-sharing feature for iPhone users to quickly transfer large amounts of data to each other: photos, videos, tracks, and so on.

FaceTime — another proprietary Apple program for high-quality video calls, of which there are currently no equivalents. During FaceTime calls, you can even engage in activities together: watch TV shows and movies, have a party with music, and even do workouts together.

In FaceTime, you can become a Memoji character, customize your image, create stickers, and much more.

But today, we’ll detail the less “loud” features that, nevertheless, make iOS irresistible.

  1. Find My to quickly find all your Apple devices

A very valuable app that currently exists only with Apple. It allows you to find both your devices and the devices of friends and family. And you can also lock them in case of theft or loss and remotely erase all data. It’s advisable to set up basic settings right after purchasing a new smartphone — we have an article about this, by the way.

And now let’s talk about the features hidden in the Apple smartphone operating system. Not everyone knows about them, but it’s this care from the brand’s engineers that makes work, entertainment, and internet surfing more enjoyable and convenient.

2. Stickers from any of your photos and background removal right in the gallery

These interesting features in the iPhone work like this.

  • You select a photo, open it in full size.
  • Press and hold the object in the photo from which the sticker should be created. Select “Add sticker” from the menu that appears.
  • If you press “Add effect” in the menu, you can decorate your original sticker with “Outline”, “Comics” style, or add “Volume” or “Shine” to it.

Stickers will appear in “Frequently Used”. When you want to send them, while typing a text, press the smiley next to the space. Your image will be at the very beginning.

There’s another interesting feature — a one-time sticker. You can cut out the main object in the photo literally in a couple of seconds. After that, you can copy it to any app or send it in a messenger.

How to do it:

  • Open the desired photo, hold your finger on the object for a few seconds.
  • The element will be highlighted, and you can copy it to any app or send it in a messenger as a sticker. But you can’t apply effects to it, and it won’t appear in “Frequently Used”.

3. Siri Spells

Yes, voice assistants don’t surprise many people nowadays. But what Siri can do on the iPhone is simply amazing. Answers to questions, commands for all apps, reminders, alarms, data for health apps, and so on — it can handle it all. And did you know that Siri even recognizes spells from “Harry Potter”? Tell her:

  • “Hey Siri, Lumos” — and the iPhone will turn on the flashlight.
  • “Hey Siri, Nox” — and the flashlight will turn off.
  • “Hey Siri, Sonorus” — and the multimedia volume will become maximum.
  • “Hey Siri, Quietus” — the counter-spell to lower the sound when watching a movie or listening to music.

From left to right: the command “Lumos” turned on the flashlight, the command “Nox” turned it off, the command “Sonorus” activated maximum volume. And Siri kindly notified about all this.

It’s important to set up Siri settings on the iPhone for all these cool features to work. Go to “Settings” > “Siri & Search” and activate the sliders in the following sections: “Siri with lock screen” and “Response to ‘Hey Siri'”. If it still doesn’t work, try saying it without an accent: the way spells sound in the original.

4. Video recording with music in the camera

The next feature will definitely appeal to bloggers. A familiar situation: you’re listening to music and suddenly notice how well the track fits the moment in life. And then an unpleasant thing happens: when switching to video recording mode, the music automatically stops. To combine video with the track, you have to do a lot of extra steps. Try it differently. Without turning off the music, switch to the camera. In “Photo” mode, press and hold the shutter button and swipe your finger to the right. The video will start recording along with the music.

5. Cool iPhone features when working with texts

Useful for those for whom a smartphone is also a working tool. If you write and edit a lot, take notes, and correspond, then grab these life hacks.

Firstly, you don’t have to try to get into the middle of a phrase by pressing with one finger. It’s more convenient to navigate through the text by dragging two fingers across the screen: this way the cursor will be more obedient. And if you make a mistake in the middle of a word, press and hold the space with one finger and, without releasing it, move the cursor to the desired location.

Secondly, try the gesture for deleting (and returning) just-written text quickly: place three fingers on the screen and swipe left — the word or phrase will disappear. The same gesture to the right will bring the word or phrase back.

With individual words and short phrases, the function works great.

6. Launch a command by tapping the back panel

You can choose two actions that the iPhone will perform when double or triple tapping on the back panel. For example, double tapping can launch the flashlight or camera, and triple tapping can open the “Notification Center.”

To set up the command, go to “Settings” > “Accessibility” > “Touch.” At the bottom of the list, find “Back Tap,” and specify the action there. Important: to trigger the option, tap in the middle of the iPhone (where the logo is).

7. A timer that stops music when you fall asleep

For those who often listen to music before bed and wake up to find the phone discharged, this will be a cool feature on the iPhone. To check how this option works, play music. Then go to “Timers” (where the alarm is) and set the desired time. Then select “Stop” at the bottom under “When Timer Ends.” Save the settings with the “Set” button, and the music will stop after the selected time has elapsed.

8. Background sounds in quick access

If you’re distracted by ambient noise or just want to relax, set ocean or rain sounds. On the iPhone, you can do this without downloading any third-party apps. Go to “Settings” > “Accessibility” and go to “Audio/Visual.” In the “Background Sounds” section, enable this option and choose a sound from the list.

And to enjoy it at any time, you’ll need to open the “Control Center” and tap on the “Hearing” icon (with an ear image), then activate “Background Sounds.”

As you can see, there are many hidden features in the iPhone. Many experienced users don’t even suspect many of them! On our Instagram, we often talk about hacks related to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
