Design, Case, and Display of the New Smartwatch
Like the Apple Watch Ultra 3, the new model features a 49 mm case. It is made from 100% recycled Grade 5 titanium. In the Apple Watch Ultra 4, the share of recycled materials has increased to 45%, compared with 40% in the previous generation. The new model is available in two finishes: natural titanium and black titanium.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2026 also comes with new band colors for the Alpine Loop, Trail Loop, and Ocean Band collections.
The customizable physical Action Button controls various functions. For example, a quick press can turn on the flashlight or start a workout. There is also a side button on the case for accessing Control Center, contactless payments, and emergency services. The Digital Crown with haptic feedback is especially convenient to use. By turning the crown, you can move between metrics and zoom interface elements. Apple Watch Ultra 4 can be controlled with one hand without touching the screen. Single and double taps help open a widget, answer a call, stop a timer, or control music.
The wide-angle Always-On Retina touchscreen is protected by ultra-durable sapphire crystal. Maximum brightness is 3,000 nits. The watch is just 12 mm thick and weighs no more than 63.1 g.
The watch features Audio Intelligence functions that help with speech and ambient sounds. The set includes the following capabilities:
- Live Rewind displays a text transcript of the last 15 seconds of a conversation;
- Siri Recap creates a brief summary of a conversation;
- Sound Recognition identifies important sounds in the surroundings;
- Shazam recognizes music playing nearby.
Data is processed directly on the watch without saving the original audio recordings. Importantly, in Georgia, Live Rewind, Siri Recap, and Apple Intelligence are available without regional restrictions, although their use requires a compatible device and a supported interface language.

Processor and Battery Life
The updated Apple Watch Ultra 4 specifications will appeal to people with an active lifestyle. The device is equipped with the new S11 processor, which is more powerful than any previous Apple chip for watches. Thanks to it, the smartwatch can:
- use Audio Intelligence features;
- improve the step-counting system;
- increase heart rate measurement accuracy.
Battery life has also been improved compared with the Apple Watch Ultra 3. In normal mode, the new model lasts up to 50 hours, while Low Power Mode extends this to up to 84 hours. This is 8 and 12 hours longer, respectively, than its predecessor. Two workout modes are available:
- Extended Workout — up to 25 hours of operation with heart rate tracking and GPS;
- Max Extended Workout — up to 45 hours with GPS for recording routes during running and walking.
The device also supports faster charging than the previous model. Fifteen minutes on the charger provides up to 18 additional hours of use.

Apple Watch Ultra 4 for Swimming and Diving
The new model is designed for use in water — it has a WR100 water-resistance rating and supports diving to depths of up to 40 m. You can use the smartwatch not only for swimming and snorkeling but also for high-speed water sports.
The device can:
- calculate the total distance;
- track laps;
- automatically detect swimming style;
- record the average pace;
- measure water temperature.
Thanks to the depth sensor, the device automatically activates diving mode when submerged to a depth of one meter. The new model can:
- track dive duration;
- display the current and maximum depth;
- use GPS to record water entry and exit points, making it easier to retrace the route after a swim.
You can download a diving app from the App Store. Use the Digital Crown to manage the information.

Health Features and Sensors
The new smartwatch retains all the health features already familiar from the previous model. These include sleep tracking, heart health notifications, and the ECG app. The main update, however, is the new Health Sensing System, which accurately measures heart rate every 5 seconds thanks to the energy-efficient green LEDs in the optical heart rate sensor. This frequency improves measurement accuracy and reflects heart activity in real time.
HRV — heart rate variability — monitoring has also been expanded by up to 24 times. The Heart Rate app now displays two metrics:
- Recovery HRV — tracks daily changes;
- Overall HRV — helps assess the overall trend.
With Daytime Vitals, you can view daytime and nighttime health metrics separately. This helps you notice changes in your usual values earlier.
Another new Apple Watch Ultra 4 feature is Readiness. It is designed to analyze:
- vital signs;
- sleep;
- recent activity;
- training load.
The system assesses the body’s condition on a scale from 0 to 10 and recommends what level of activity to choose for the day: Recover (0–1 points), Pace Yourself (2–4 points), Ready (5–7 points), or Go For It (8–10 points).
Recover indicates that the body needs recovery and should not be overloaded with workouts. Pace Yourself recommends choosing a moderate activity level. Ready indicates that the body has recovered and you can return to your usual training routine. Go For It means you can move on to intensive workouts. The recommendation is updated throughout the day.
The new model counts steps more accurately thanks to new machine learning algorithms and the powerful S11 chip. The smartwatch also determines distance more precisely during running and walking. A new Steps Complication feature has also been added — you can now track your step count in real time directly on the display.
